The Aquatic Music Stand

A simple idea by his Granddaughters inspired Ben to create an underwater themed piece for the Chippendale exhibition of music stands. Part art sculpture and part functional music stand, a rise and fall mechanism is cleverly hidden inside with the shell and crab; a place for sheet music to comfortably rest amongst the woodcarving.

Carved in lime and left ‘off the tool’ to create an abundance of interesting textures, from the Seaweed to the Seahorses, the Shells to the Octopus, each element has its own character and distinctive feel. Demonstrating Ben's immaculate attention to detail, sits a conductors baton, complete with a shell bulb and created from Maple and Purple Heart. A fantastical and whimsical undersea scene, ready to be discovered, explored and appreciated.
